Serial killers dont look any different from us. Theyre not shorter, taller, fatter, or skinnier. The thing is, we wont be able to tell who amongst the people we encounter every day are capable of committing heinous crimes based solely on their appearances.

We must keep in mind that not all serial killers are weak, unattractive losers with serious self-esteem issues. Some of them are charming, intelligent, and confident. They have families, and they have a good-paying job.

Dennis Lynn Rader was born in Pittsburg, Kansas in 1945. He served in the U.S. Air Force in the 60s.

Rader married Paula, his wife in 1971, and worked for a camping gear company for a few years. Then, in 1974, he worked at ADT Security Services.

He soon became a father of two; his son was born in 1975, and three years later, she had a daughter. He was a regular churchgoer and was even elected as president of his church council. Rader also earned a degree in administration of justice from Wichita State University in 1979.

Like most serial killers, a part of him wanted to receive credit for what he had done. So, he sent handwritten letters to the authorities and the media. He asked to be named as the BTK Killer, short for bind, torture, and kill his preferred method.
