Taxidermy is creepy. We”ve already established this. But one Dutch artist has taken the unpopular craft and added a splash of dark humor to it, creating brilliant pieces of art that both disturb and impress.

28 year old Noortje Zijlstra is part of a new group of Dutch artists that have a quirky funness to their work, that is also strangely bleak. “My work fuses taxidermy and art, sometimes creating work that may shock or even revolt, but I hope it serves as a catalyst for conversation,” says Zijlstra. Here are some of our favorite pieces of hers.
